Cancer Benefit to Be Held for Kirkwood Resident, Ed Normile
Update: We've received word from Eileen Winifred that Ed has passed away. Eileen wrote, "Ed passed this morning, at 3am, PLEASE come out to the benefit and help support our family and celebrate Ed's life!" Notice of his death appears in the November 16th Press Connects.
Ed Normile of Kirkwood is a husband, father, grandfather, and a fighter. Normile is fighting stage four renal cell kidney cancer, but he's certainly not fighting alone.
Renal cell kidney cancer is a type of kidney cancer that starts in the lining of small tubes in the kidney and is often not detected until the cancer has reached an advanced stage.
Anyone who fought cancer or knows someone who has will understand how overwhelming medical bills can be and this is why a benefit has been planned to help Normile because the last thing he should have to worry about right now is how he's going to pay for lifesaving treatments.
The benefit will be held on Saturday, November 18th from 1pm-5pm at the West Windsor Fire Hall on Karla Drive in Windsor. There will be a bake sale, 50/50, basket raffle, music from Project Z as well as Deep Watts, which will feature members of The Gents, Goodnight Human, and Reprise. There will also be a pasta dinner.
A donation of $10 for adults and $5 for kids ages 6-12 will be accepted at the door. Kids under 5 are free and take out will be available with the pasta dinner.
If you're not able to attend but would like to help, you can make a check payable to "Ed Normile Benefit Account" and send it to NBT Bank, P.O. Box 27, Afton, NY 13730.
