Calling All Broome County Youth: Join the NYS Governor’s Youth Council
The Broome County Department of Parks, Recreation, and Youth Services is looking for a rising star like you to represent us on the New York State Governor’s Youth Council. If you're between the ages of 13 to 21 and ready to have your voice heard, this is your opportunity.
One young person from each county in New York will get the chance to give advice to Governor Hochul and other New York policymakers on the issues that matter most to people like you. This is a fantastic chance for someone from Broome County to shine.
If you're picked, you will get an insider's look at how democracy really works. It all starts with an orientation and training session in Albany. Then, you'll get together with other Youth Council members from around the Empire State to take pm policy issues head-on. This is a real chance for you to make a real difference!

The State is taking applications from youth who want to be part of this groundbreaking Council. Show off your skills and let your voice be heard. The application process involves writing an essay and making a video that you'll submit online. Don't delay because the deadline to apply is July 12th.
The Broome County Youth Bureau has put together a team to look at all of the applications and pick the top three candidates to recommend to the State by July 15th. The State will decide which bright and young rising star will represent Broome County.
