Congratulations to all the BCC grads.  Maybe I should say SUNY Broome Community College or SUNY Broome graduates.

The board of Trustees for the school are considering a name change from Broome Community College to one of the other names I just mentioned. The reason is to highlight their association with the State University of New York.

The meeting took place this morning in the Libous Room of the Decker Building and was open to the public. If a change is approved, the school will take this summer to decide how to implement the new name.

But tonight let's celebrate the graduates from BCC. The ceremony is tonight at 7:30 at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena and there are 1285 students graduating from various programs. The ceremony includes graduates from the Fall 2012, Spring 2013 and Summer 2013 semesters.

One of the 1285 students that is graduating tonight is my wife, Dawn. She's graduating with an associates in science, Criminal Justice: Corrections.  She also has been on the President's list every semester since returning.  If you're asking yourself, How did such a smart woman end up with me?  It's because she's a smart woman.

So congrats to all and you may be the last graduates from the school that is now known as BCC.
