Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash in Bradford County that left the driver dead.

Authorities say 56-year-old Earl Wendela of Rome, Pennsylvania was driving north on Cadis Road at around 3:30 a.m. February 21 when his GMC Sierra veered to the left over both lanes of travel.

Troopers say the vehicle hit a tree before traveling down a west embankment and hitting the ditch area, causing heavy damage to the vehicle.

The Bradford County Coroner pronounced Wendela dead at the scene.

Authorities say they believe Wendela had been traveling at an unsafe speed prior to the crash just north of Greek Road in Warren Township.

The Warren Center Fire Department, Little Meadows and Greater Valley Emergency Medical Services crews also assisted at the scene.
