Something happens when we grow up- we put away our crayons and coloring sheets and push away one of our favorite childhood hobbies for pens and highlighters and charts and graphs. But studies show coloring can actually be a really good stress buster for adults.

Coloring is a peaceful activity that also stimulates the areas of the brain associated with motor skills, the senses and creativity. And it's not just for kids anymore. Adult coloring books have become so popular that even Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin is getting in on the act. A Game of Thrones adult coloring book is actually scheduled for release sometime this fall.

The Broome County Public Library has starting a coloring club for adults, which meets every Wednesday at 5:30pm. This group is be open to anyone who enjoys coloring for fun, to relax, or to show off their creative side.

If you're interested in joining the coloring club, you're asked to bring your own coloring books and whatever you want to color with, but the library will also provide coloring pages as well as pencils and crayons.

The library coloring club will meets in the library's Ahearn Room. If you'd like to learn more about the coloring club, you can reach out to the library at 607-778-6451.
