The facts are sobering- according to Stand, roughly a quarter of American children fail to finish high school. Do you know what that translates to? That number translates to almost a million people leaving the classroom for the streets each year. If you think our community is immune, you're very wrong.

Stand for Children is an advocacy organization and they believe that all children, not just a select few, deserve every opportunity to succeed in life. The mission of Stand is to do all that they can to make sure that all children, regardless of their background are able to graduate from high school and that they're not only ready for college, but they have access to higher education.

Stand for Children is working right here in our community by focusing on educating and empowering those who deal with children. They also fight for excellence within our public schools. That's not where Stand stops though. They also are the mouthpiece for local, state and national education policies and investments and they work to make sure that the policies and funding they advocate for actually make it into the classrooms of our children.

Stand for Children Day is an event sponsored by the Children and Youth Services Council of Broome County and will take place rain or shine on Thursday, June 1st from 4:30pm-6:30pm at Recreation Park on Binghamton's West Side with many family friendly events.
