Things are beginning to turn around in our area and I couldn't be happier. Last summer, most of the fairs and festivals were canceled or changed to a drive-thru event. Earlier this week, we learned that the Afton Fair is back after a one-year hiatus and it's going to be a "merry" time.

I'm talking about the Afton Fair and this year's theme will be "Christmas in July." The 132nd Afton Fair runs July 8-11 and is dedicated to Tammy Rae Palmetier.

Palmetier  was a life-long resident of the Afton area and a big supporter of the Afton Fair. She passed away at the age of 57 in February after a brave and courageous battle with cancer. She was an incredible woman that did so much in the Afton area and you can read her incredible story here.

Ways That You Can Help The Afton Fair

In order to put on the best fair possible this year, they are in need of volunteers, before, during, and after the big event in July. you can go here to find the best way to help them out.

They are also having a rabbit and chicken show with trophies, ribbons, and prizes. So if your child and farm animals are available July 8th through the 11th, you are asked to bring your furry or feathery best friends to the Afton Fair.

It'll all start with a Community Parade on Thursday, July 8th at 7 p.m. The parade will be dedicated to everyone that couldn't have a Christmas Parade last year. If you would like to be a part of the parade, go here to be a part of this awesome celebration.

As the saying goes "I wish every day was like Christmas" and the Afton Fair is doing its part this year.
