Richard "Dickie" Attenborough was an English actor, film director and film producer who passed away at the age of 90 on Sunday.

As a film director and producer, Richard won two Academy Awards for Gandhi in 1983. He also won four BAFTA Awards and four Golden Globe Awards. As an actor, he is best known for his roles in 'The Great Escape,'  'Miracle on 34th Street,' and 'Jurassic Park.'

According to CBS News, Richard's son, Michael told the BBC that his father died Sunday. He had been in ill health for quite some time. A fall six years ago confined him to a wheelchair and he spent the last few years in a nursing home with his wife.

Richard is survived by his wife, Sheila Sim, their son Michael and a daughter.
