Have you been thinking about planting a garden but have no idea where to start? Volunteers Improving Neighborhood Environments (VINES) will be hosting two free garden planning workshops in downtown Binghamton and on the Northside.

The VINES garden planning workshops are kid friendly- bring your kids for a fun activity while you learn about designing a garden. At the workshop, you'll learn the basics of designing a garden bed, spacing designs, sun/shade exposure, when and where to plant crops and much more. You'll go home with a design for your garden and educational materials.

VINES operates seven community gardens in the Binghamton Urban Farm and is in the process of developing a community orchard on Binghamton's North side.

The free garden planning workshops will take place as follows:

  • Thursday, March 6th at 6pm at the Broome County Public, 185 Court Street in Binghamton in the Exhibit Room.
  • Saturday, March 29th at 1:30pm at the Lee Barta Community Center, 108 Liberty Street in Binghamton.

If you'd like to attend one of the workshops, please register ahead by calling 607-205-8108.

If you don't have time to garden, you can stop by the workshop to lean about the Binghamton Farm Share program where VINES works to make fresh, organic veggies available at affordable prices.
