One of the local events my family looks forward to year after year is Trunk-or-Treat at the West Family YMCA. The event offers safe, family-friendly pre-Halloween for kids of all ages. This year, the fun will be held on Saturday, October 26 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Just as my son does, your little ones(s) will also love traveling from car to car collecting Halloween candy in a safe and controlled environment at the West Family YMCA which is located at 740 Main Street in Johnson City.

Once your kids have collected their candy, you're invited to bring them inside the YMCA for a bunch of really fun activities including a costume contest, arts and crafts and even Pumpkins in the Pool which is where your kids can swim in the pool and collect a foam pumpkin for a prize. This event is open to the public and costs just $1 per child, adults are free.

Are you interested in hosting a trunk? Well over a thousand kids participate each year and the only reason they're able to have a fun and safe time is because of YMCA members and community volunteers who graciously volunteer their time. If you'd like to decorate your trunk and hand out candy, reach out to Karen at 770-9622 ext. 430 to learn how you can help.
