Honesty in a relationship is one of the most important things, but there's honesty – and then ridiculous over-sharing. Here are four things you should never tell the person you're in a relationship with:

1. The number of people you were with before them. Save everyone from emotional damage and keep the notches on your bedpost to yourself.

2. Your ex’s better qualities. I know this seems like a no-brainer, but  there are people compare their new flame to their old. Just don't.  “Whether your ex was good in the sack, taller, bigger, stronger, smarter, had more money, or whatever else, just don’t go there," says relationship expert Christie Hartman, Ph.D. "There’s a chance your current guy may feel smaller or lesser as a person."

3. That your friends aren’t his biggest fans. Let me be the first to tell you that if your friends don't like the person you're with- that should throw up a HUGE red flag. But if you decide to ignore your friends, he doesn’t need to know how they feel about it. It will hurt his feelings and will eventually drive a wedge between you and your friends.

4. Things you used to do with your ex. He or she really doesn't need to know how you used to cook breakfast together every Sunday or about that marathon you both trained for.
