Calling all basketball fanatics and supporters of local law enforcement!  It's a hardwood showdown as the Johnson City School District hosts the 10th annual Police Week Charity Basketball Tournament on Saturday, May 11th.

This isn't just any basketball game, it's a tournament that makes a real difference. Every year, they pick a different charity or cause and this year, they are raising funds for the family of Endicott PD Officer Sean Ahern.

Officer Ahern passed away unexpectedly  earlier this year due to complications related to acute respiratory issues. He left behind his wife, Lindsay, and their four young children.

Officer Ahern had planned to retire from the police force this May. This tournament is a powerful way to honor his memory and offer support for his grieving family. Get ready for some serious (and fun) competition!

There are eight teams from the New York State Police, Broome and Tioga County Sheriff's Departments, a combined Metro team, and local PDs from Endicott, Johnson City, Vestal, and Binghamton.

10th Annual Police Week Charity Basketball Tournament

Can the Binghamton PD successfully defend its title from last year? Find out for yourself when the games begin at 1 p.m.at the Johnson City Middle School. Tickets are available at the door and your admission fee gets you into all the games with food and drinks available too.

This event is more than just a basketball tournament. It's an afternoon of activities including a gun, basket, and cash raffles along with door prizes. There will be plenty of chances to win something.

The highlight of the tournament is the championship game that will tip-off at 5 p.m. at the Johnson City Middle School. I'm extremely honored that they have asked me to be a part of this again this year. I'll be officiating beginning at 3 p.m.

Come out and show our local police officers some love while supporting this worthy cause. It's a tournament where the real winners are you by showing your support for the Ahern family.
