According to the National Endowment for the Arts, more than half of American adults read books for pleasure.  The 2012 report translates to 57% or 128 million readers.

There's really nothing like a good book.  That's why Happy Tails Animal Rescue in Owego holds a book sale that brings people from all over the Southern Tier and North East Pennsylvania.

The Happy Tails Book Sale is today through Sunday, rain or shine, at St. Paul's Church, 117 Main Street, Owego and promises to have hundreds to thousands of titles to appeal to everyone. Fiction, non-fiction, children's books, cookbooks, you name it.

All the money raised will go to Happy Tails Animal Rescue's T/N/R program (trap/neuter/return) of feral cats.  Happy Tails is a leading non-kill shelter who works very hard to place animals to good homes through their active Facebook page.

Friday and Saturday's book sale hours are 9am-5pm and Sunday, after church services from 1pm-5pm.  Pricing: Friday: $2.00 hardcover / $1.00 softcover, Saturday: $1.00 hardcover / $.50 softcover,  Sunday:  Bag sale: $5.00 (plastic grocery bag).

Seems like a great weekend to pick up some good reads and help the less fortunate pets in our community at the same time.  So are you going?  Please pass the word and help the animals.
