When I attended school at SUNY Fredonia in Western New York, I thought it was neat how the Buffalo Bills would train each summer on my Fredonia campus.  It brought a lot of money to the small town by the lake front each summer when school was out.  Now the news that the New York Jets are pulling out of Cortland will hurt the city financially, to the tune of millions of dollars.

Cortland officials estimate the NFL camp brought in about $20 million for the local economy over the past five years.

The team is opting to have its three week conditioning sessions at its Atlantic Health Jets Training Center in Florham Park, New Jersey.

It's my hope that the team returns to Cortland in the near future.  Local politicians are working on that to hopefully make this happen.
