To honor the memory of fallen Johnson City Police Officer David Smith, the Johnson City Police Department is selling memorial pins.

The 1,000 pins were sent to the Johnson City Police by a company in Utah following Officer Smith's tragic death and Lt. Michael Hatch who is also Vice President for the Police Association told WBNG "The outpouring support that we've had from the community, we felt this was a way for the community to honor the sacrifice Officer Smith made."

Each pin states Officer David Smith's name as well as "EOW" which stands for "End of Watch" and then the date of his passing, which was March 31, 2014. The pin also features two blue roses.

The Johnson City Police Association is selling the pins for $3 each and they can be bought by visiting  the Johnson City Police Department weekdays from 6am to 6pm.

The money raised through the sale of the memorial pins will go into a fund to help with a memorial for Officer Smith as well as other projects the police department is working on in Officer Smith's honor.
