Jason Aldean Reveals Wife Brittany’s Favorite Songs on Next Album
Jason Aldean introduced his upcoming seventh studio album with a country-rocker that he admits was a last-minute add-on. He also says his wife isn't a big fan of the rockers.
Brittany does like "Lights Come On," however, Aldean tells Taste of Country Nights' Sam Alex. “Her and I have different tastes in music for sure," he says. "She’s a lot more of like an R&B kind of fan, more pop R&B type stuff. She’s not a big rock 'n' roll fan.”
So bands like Guns N' Roses are lost on the 28-year-old, but they're very important to Aldean and his style. He's learned to tell when Brittany doesn't like a song because she doesn't like it, or when she doesn't like a new song because she just isn't that into rock music. On Aldean's upcoming album, "Little More Summertime," "All Out of Beer" and "In Case You Don't Remember" are three of her favorites. She loved "Burnin' It Down," the rhythmic lead single from his last album, but Aldean stopped short of saying either of her three new favorites are like that spicy mix of country and R&B.
"Lights Come On" — a back-to-basics track partially penned by Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley of Florida Georgia Line — almost didn't make this new album. Aldean says they were in the studio, planning to cut the final four songs in one day.
“We recorded two of the songs and we were taking a lunch break,” the 2016 ACM Entertainer of the Year says. “On the lunch break I got an email from BK from Florida Georgia Line. I opened it up, listened to the song and was like, ‘Oh man!’”
“As soon as I heard it I was like, ‘Alright this is our first single. This is what we’ve been missing for the record.'"
Within a matter of days, the song was recorded. Not long after that, Aldean was debuting it at the ACM Awards in Las Vegas. Expect the song to be a big part of his Six String Circus Tour when it begins on May 19.
