March 12, 2014 is a day I'll never forget because it's the day we found out that my dad won his fight against cancer.

As I sat with my dad at the cancer center at Dana Farber that day, I wrote this, "My heart is caught in my chest. I'm filled with such sadness yet hope for all of the beautiful cancer fighters here at Dana Farber. There is so much sickness in this place and yet everyone is filled with such joy. I can't help but think that within their darkest of hours, they've grabbed a hold of the simplest of moments in life and their eyes are more open and their minds are more clear than most. And I envy these lovelies because they are so much braver than I."

Before I walked into the cancer center, I thought I had a handle on this thing called life. I was wrong. As I watched cancer fighters all around me that day, I was schooled in life and I firmly believe that it is imperative that we celebrate those who finish their treatments, because God knows it takes immeasurable strength to go through what these precious souls do.

The staff at Louisiana’s Willis-Knighton Cancer Center also believe in celebrating the conclusion of treatments and decided to show one little girl how proud they were by surprising her with a flash mob dance routine.

Without 12-year-old Sophia Petikas knowing it, the hospital employees learned how to dance to one of her favorite songs, “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)” by Silento. When Sophia started dancing to the song, all the staff in the area were able to dance with her, step-by-step.

And how lucky are we that someone recorded this heartwarming celebration sendoff and we get to watch it and cheer for Sophia?
