This March, the world's first solar-powered plane will take off for a five-month flight around the world.

Along with lead engineer and co-pilot Andre Borschberg, pilot Bertrand Piccard will navigate the globe in his invention, the Solar Impulse 2.

The flight takes off in Abu Dhabi and will head to India, Myanmar, China, the United States, and southern Europe or North Africa before returning to its starting point.

The two men have flown the aircraft over 20 times so far and say they're pretty confident they’ve got the bugs worked out. I would hope so!

Now, it’s just a matter of getting enough sunlight to keep the plane’s lithium batteries charged overnight. If there were ever a time to pray for sunshine, this would be it.
