While I've never had a child of my own, I've heard the stories from my friends and family and I'm pretty sure that I'd be scared enough of giving birth the normal way that this way wouldn't even cross my mind.

More and more couples are flying to the Sirius Institute in Hawaii to have a dolphin assisted birth (DAB).

While the actual details of how all of this works aren’t totally clear, it has something to do with the mother giving birth in the ocean, surrounded by dolphins. After the baby is delivered, one of the dolphins will carry the baby– perhaps balancing it on its snout – to the top of the water for its first breath.

Um, what about that the dolphin could drown the baby or carry it off?

Once couple defended their choice for a DAB by saying, “It is about reconnecting as humans with the dolphins so we can coexist in this world together and learn from one another.”
