Have you ever stayed at a Bed and Breakfast while on vacation?  According to Time magazine, there are "approximately 28,000 B&Bs in the United States."   That number has grown from just 1,000 almost 20 years ago.  Today 50 million people enjoy B&B's in the states alone.

More and more people are opening up old historic buildings and family homes in order to accommodate travelers in every state.  And with the price of gas so low this year, more and more people will be traveling this year and you are apt to see that number climb even more.

Personally, if I had a choice of staying a motel, high rise hotel or a quaint Bed and Breakfast, the B&B would win every time.  I'll never forget staying in one in Queensland New Zealand, visiting with guests, watching TV and someone joined the conversation after returning from Antarctica. You do meet some amazing people.  That's why I more often than not chose a B&B when I hit the beach.

Every B&B has it's own personality and it's the guests that make it different every time.  You can make your stay at a bed and breakfast as social or as private as you wish to make it.

I was listening to a news report on the radio this past week and they stated that over 90% of travelers that stay at a B&B once will likely return to these accommodations if they had the choice, over a hotel or motel.  That's a very high percentage.

Some may not know that the Binghamton are has some wonderful bed and breakfasts.  They are scattered all over the Southern Tier and Northeast Pennsylvania.  Here are a couple that caught my eye.

Park House Bed and Breakfast -- located in the heart of Binghamton at 85 Park Street, this B&B features a 1940's decor with electric fireplaces and all the amenities of home.

Pickle Hill B&B --- At 795 Chenango Street in Binghamton, this charming B&B offers all the comforts of home. Inn owners Tom and Leslie are there to make your stay a memorable experience and the home cooked breakfast will be something you will talk about for some time.

B&B at Endwell Greens --- a popular Bed and Breakfast that sits on a popular golf course at 3701 Sally Piper Road in Endicott, this B&B offers large and fully furnished rooms and a great view of the gold course.

Pumpelly House Bed and Breakfast --- located at 44 Front Street in Owego, I've known many people that have stayed at the Pumpelly House and raved over the rooms, friendly staff and amazing grounds that surround the 1902 Georgian-style house.  This is a popular wedding and anniversary choice.

Inn on Columbia -- if you're planning a stay in the Ithaca area, maybe visiting the falls or taking in a wine tour, this popular downtown B&B located at 228 Columbia Street has it all. Guests of this 1830's era house will enjoy fireplaces, decks, skylights, whirlpools and custom designed furniture.
