A Yankee legend and all-time baseball great has passed away. Yogi Berra has died at the age of 90.

He died of natural causes on Tuesday, September 22nd, according to Dave Kaplan, the director of the Yogi Berra Museum.

He reached 14 World Series in 18 seasons and helped the Yankees win 10 of them. He was a 3 time American League Most Valuable Player.

He was a manager for the Yankees and Mets and lead them to the World Series.

But he was known for his malapropisms. It means "the mistaken use of a word in place of a similar sounding one."

We call it "Yogi-isms."  Some people have even said to me that my vocabulary is full of Yogi-isms and I consider that a compliment.

He gave us such gems as "“It ain’t over till it’s over", “Baseball is 90 percent mental, the other half is physical”, "When you come to a fork in the road, take it” and my favorite “Nobody goes to that restaurant anymore, it’s too crowded.”

Yogi Bear debuted in 1958 and got his name from Yogi Berra.

Here's one for you. It was 69 years ago to the day that he made his major league debut September 22nd, 1946.

Yogi played in more World Series games than any other major leaguer. His name appears almost as often in Bartlett's Famous Quotations as it does in baseball's record book.
