It's an event that began last year and it has taken off. It's "The Star Spangled Banner" competition at the Great New York State Fair in Syracuse. Your chance to sing the National Anthem twice in the same day.

Many entered and 12 won the right to sing the National Anthem to begin the Fair's day and to start the afternoon session of the equestrian competitions.

The winners of this year's competition include an Army reservist, a mother and daughter team from Binghamton, and all 100 members of a community chorus just to name a few.

The mother and daughter team is Margaret and Maryanne Kotylo. They'll sing on September 2nd.  They've gone to the Fair for the last 25 years. They also have sang the song for the Binghamton Mets.

The next day (9/3), Emily Culligan and Sarah Chadwick from Vestal will perform together. They've been with different singing groups and programs throughout their time together. They are happy to honor their country in this way.

If you'd like to see the other 10 winners go here.  The Fair runs from August 25th to September 5th.
