The U.S. Attorney’s office says 39-year-old Jacob Gorman of Waverly has been sentenced to 124 months for attempted online enticement of a minor.

Gorman, who had been employed in Elmira as a social worker for the Greater Southern Tier BOCES, pleaded guilty last December, admitting he negotiated a price for having sex with a little girl with an undercover officer whom he believed was the child’s mother.

The Tioga County man arranged to meet the mother and child at a location in Broome County through a series of text messages between August 11 and August 27 of last year and, instead, was met by authorities and arrested at the rendezvous site.

In addition to the prison term, Gorman will serve 15-years on probation and pay a $100 special assessment.  He will also be required to register as a sex offender upon his release from prison.
