The Broome County District Attorney is announcing a couple Binghamton men are headed to prison in separate cases up for sentencing last week.

32-year-old Zeke Wilmarth is to serve 15 years after pleading guilty to attempted murder for stabbing a 34-year-old woman repeatedly wit a knife, intending to kill her on July 11 of last year in Vestal.

Wilmarth entered the guilty plea last march to charges of Attempted Murder, Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Assault and Strangulation.

According to prosecutors, Wilmarth admitted attacking his girlfriend during a dispute at an apartment house on Garden Lane in the Castle Gardens region.

Vestal Police were called at around 5:40 p.m. July 11 for a reported domestic incident and found a woman at the apartment house with multiple stab wounds and other injuries.

She told police her attacker was in another part of the building.

She was sent to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Police found Wilmarth locked in a second-floor apartment, refusing to come out. Officers reported they forced their way into the apartment to take Wilmarth into custody.

In another sentencing last week, 27-year-old Brandon Hamilton will spend 9 years in prison after admitting he carjacked a woman at the Oakdale Mall last September.

Initial reports from the Johnson City Police said on September 5, Hamilton attempted to carjack a shopper at Wegman’s supermarket and, when that failed, ran across Harry L. Drive where he attacked a woman in the mall parking lot, spraying her with pepper spray and pulling her from her vehicle.

Vestal Police found the stolen vehicle on Underwood Road and located and detained Hamilton.

Hamilton pleaded guilty to Robbery, Escape and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property last week.
