Another fight is looming in Vestal now that a Georgia-based developer is seeking approval for a huge housing development near the Binghamton University campus.

Landmark Properties wants to construct what it describes as 161 "cottage-style" units off Bunn Hill Road.

The project would be located on a 43-acre site about one mile south of the Vestal Parkway. The property is owned by an entity controlled by the Kradjian family.

Last May, Landmark quietly pulled the plug on a planned 58-cottage complex that called for 700 parking spaces following strong opposition from area residents.

Victor Lamoureux Thursday said he and others who fought the previous project are organizing again.

Lamoureux, who lives near the site of the proposed development, said the project still isn't what "most residents want to see for Vestal."

Lamoureux said "our strategy hasn't changed because I don't think the facts have changed."

On a newly-created website for The Retreat at Bunn Hill project, Landmark Properties said the company "is committed to being a welcome neighbor and a good steward of the community."

Lamoureux said he believes the project may be discussed at a March 3 meeting of the Vestal planning board.
