If you’ve got friends, family, or colleagues in Canada and were planning to visit your local post office to send them a letter or a package, the United States Postal Service is notifying New Yorkers that doing so won’t be possible for now.

Following a national strike led by 55,000 employees of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers two weeks ago, the Canada Post has informed the United States Postal Service that they are currently unable to process or deliver international mail and services.

As a result of the word it received from Canada Post, the United States Postal Service opted to halt international mail services to Canada. This pause affects several international mailing options, including Priority Mail Express International, Priority Mail International, First-Class Mail International, and more.

In an effort to resolve the labor dispute that is jeopardizing the busy holiday season, Canada Post says it has put forward a framework for negotiating agreements with the union.
