The Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier (MHAST) does so much for our community so it's great when we can do our part to help them.

They've been chosen as the charity recipient for the 24 hour running relay by a group of caring young men who are former or current members of the Union-Endicott Cross Country Team.

It's scheduled to begin this Thursday, June 20th at 4 p.m. at the UE High School Ty Cobb Stadium. They'll be lacing up their shoes for the second year "running" to save lives.

10 students plan to run for 24 hours straight beginning at 4 p.m. The team consists of Aaron Buckley, AJ Darling, Caleb Johnson, Caleb Mallery, Dominic Pasquale, Jake Richards, Mark Schneider, Zach Tatar, Nick VanFossen and Vishal Yalamanchili.

One team member will run at a time with each allowed to check out only at a mile marker. They aim to run over 200 miles in all. They are inviting ALL AREA RUNNERS to come out and run alongside them too.

That's not all that will be happening at the UEHS Ty Cobb Stadium. There will also be a Ultimate Frisbee, cornhole and spikeball tournaments at the field.

Last year, the team finished their 24-hour event and raised over $7,000 for suicide awareness with a donation to the National Suicide Hotline. They hope to do better this year and with your help, they will.

If you can't make it out to this fantastic event, you can still show your support of the team and donate directly to MHAST. All funds received will be used to support programs and services that benefit both youth and adults who have special emotional, behavioral or mental health needs.

These young men are giving 24 hours of their time and they hope you'll take a few hours to come out and support them and this awesome cause.
