Well the Pro Bowl is tonight beginning at 7pm on NBC5.  Does anyone even care?

The excitement (what there was of it to begin with) and effort by the players have gone down.  Last year's Pro Bowl was so boring that commissioner  Roger Goodell thought about cancelling this years game.  In my opinion the biggest reason this has happened is because they moved the Pro Bowl from the week after the Super Bowl to the week between the big game.

It used to be that the best players (as voted on by the fans) would gather in Hawaii and play.  Now that they put it before the Super Bowl, the talent pool has lessened by 2 teams.  Then you take away some of the players that got hurt during the playoffs, (RGIII, Tom Brady) and players who don't want to get hurt during the game and you have a receipe for a lackluster, zzzzzz game.

The Pro Bowl seems like less of a game for the players and more about a chance for them to take a free trip to Hawaii with their family.  What should they do to possibly make it more exciting for us?  First, move it back to after the Super Bowl.  I understand there thinking when they moved it to begin with.  It gave the NFL fan something to watch and hold them over till the big one the next Sunday.  However as I mentioned the player pool is now two teams shallower. I find it neat to watch the players from the winning team come to the island after the game and hear their stories. I find it interesting for the losing team players as well.

So the pressure is on this year for a better game.  Don't know if the players care anyway by the list of no-shows this year.  If tonight's game isn't any better than last year and it's devoid of hitting and real effort, this could be the last Pro Bowl.  Maybe instead of a game, they do some kind of reality event or show.  It works for Honey Boo Boo.
