I'm so excited about this weekend's new movie releases because the movie, The Place Beyond the Pines is being released and it was not only largely filmed in my hometown of Scotia, NY, but a couple scenes were filmed in front of my parent’s house and rumor has it a couple people I know can be seen in background shots.

I find it hilarious that my Mom doesn't understand why I find Ryan Gosling so attractive. She saw a lot of him when he was filming in front of her house and apparently in the movie he sports greasy and badly dyed hair. She wasn't too impressed that he plopped down on her steps without asking permission either (Mom is really big on manners!).  My Mom hasn't seen any movie with Ryan Gosling in it and doesn't understand why all the girls go crazy over him.  I tried to explain he just looked grungy for the role, but she wasn't having any of it.  Eva Mendes is also in the movie and she spent some time chatting with my younger siblings in between filming.  My Mom says Eva is too skinny and needs to eat something.

If you’re thinking about catching a movie this Easter weekend, here are the new movies you’ll find in theaters:

The Place Beyond the Pines (rated R)- (If you go see this- look for the house in the picture above- that's my parent's house) A motorcycle stunt rider (Ryan Gosling) turns to robbing banks as a way to provide for his lover and their newborn child, a decision that puts him on a collision course with an ambitious rookie cop (Bradley Cooper) navigating a department ruled by a corrupt detective.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation (rated PG-13)- This is a sequel for the few people who saw the 2009 original. This time The G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy, Cobra, they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence. Starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Bruce Willis and Channing Tatum.

The Host (rated PG-13)- Twilight author Stephenie Meyer’s non-vampire book comes the big screen. It stars Saoirse Ronan as Melanie, a teen who’ll risk everything to protect the people she cares about when an unseen enemy threatens mankind by taking over their bodies and erasing their memories.

Tyler Perry’s Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor (rated PG-13)- A marriage counselor's life become complicated after she enters into an increasingly obsessive relationship behind her husband's back. Featuring the big screen debut of Kim Kardashian. That’s right, we said Kim Kardashian.
