Tennessee Man Faces Long List of Felonies, Other Counts in Cortland

A Tennessee man faces 19 counts, 12 of them felonies, in Cortland County after being arrested by authorities in Athens, Tennessee.

Cortland County Sheriff’s officials say they were notified January 14 that 33-year-old Casey Brown had been living in Knoxville when he was arrested on a matter unrelated to the case in New York. 

Some of the local charges include 5 counts of felony family offense, criminal possession of a weapon, six felony counts of criminal contempt, petit larceny, welfare fraud, bail jumping and even promoting prison contraband.

Due to the open charges in the State of New York, Brown was extradited back to Cortland County on January 22.

Authorities have not released information about the incident or incidents that prompted the long list of charges against Brown in Cortland County nor why he was arrested in Tennessee.
