Talent Showcase Honors Murdered Binghamton Teen
On July 20, 2002, 14-year-old Devin Spears of Binghamton was brutally executed in her home by a monster who was set to appear in court just ten days later to face allegations that he'd sexually abused Devin the summer before.
A beautiful life was snuffed out by the act of a coward, but Devin's memory lives on in the heart of our community as well as through the Devin Spears Talent Showcase Scholarship Fundraiser which is held each year at the Endicott Performing Arts Center.
Devin was a very talented young woman who was a member of the EPAC Kids Theater Workshop, starring as Dorothy in the 2001 production of "The Wiz." Since its inception, the Devin Spears Talent Showcase Scholarship Fundraiser has awarded over $45,000 in scholarships to local graduating high school seniors.
The Devin Spears Talent Showcase Scholarship Fundraiser features performances by the area's most talented performers. This program also features a basket raffle during the show and all proceeds from ticket sales, as well as basket raffles, are donated to the scholarship fund in Devin's name.
The 2019 Devin Spears Talent Showcase Scholarship Fundraiser will be held at EPAC on Saturday, February 23rd from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. If you'd like to purchase general admission tickets, you can learn how to do that by reaching out to EPAC.
If you're unable to attend the fundraiser but would like to contribute to the scholarship fund, you're welcome to make a check payable to EPAC Devin Spears Scholarship Fund, 102 Washington Avenue, Endicott, New York.
