The SUNY Broome Dental Hygiene Clinic is looking for patients to help their students for their final exam. I heard they were in need of that special kind of patient and wouldn't you know it, I'm special and it's a win-win for everybody.

There are about 25 students who are looking for patients in order to take their license exam in May. I heard about this and thought, I'll see if I can help...okay I was volunteered by my family but I'm happy that it worked out.

They need that specific person, a person with the type of calculus (hardened plaque) in certain areas in the mouth and built up to a certain extent. It usually is someone that hasn't had a cleaning in ten years but not always.

It's all by the luck of the draw but years without a cleaning, regular smoking and not flossing are all things that can give you more of a chance for qualifying. Time is running out and they are looking for someone like you.

If they want to have a practice in dental hygiene after graduation, they need patients for the exam in May. My student dental hygienist Tonya told me that only 1 in 20 people who come in for this will qualify. Wouldn't you know it, I was one of the qualifiers..

Here's what Tonya said to me during my exam, "If you don't qualify, I would still love to clean your teeth." I think that's a compliment."

To find out more, call the clinic at (607) 778-5015 or go here. Here's your chance to educate students for a career in dental hygiene....and get your teeth checked for free too.
