Update: the State of Emergency in Broome County will expire at 11am. It was previously set to expire at 1pm.

County Executive Debbie Preston has declared a State of Emergency for all of Broome County effective until 1pm Wednesday February 5th.

The National Weather Service in Binghamton reports that snow is falling in excess of 2 inches per hour and heavy snowfall is expected through the late morning hours until tapering off to a lighter snow this afternoon.

The County Executive and Sheriff David Harder have issues emergency orders and travel advisories for no unnecessary travel with only essential employees allowed on the roads in Broome County. Essential employees include medical and healthcare employees, public works, public safety employees, etc.
