If you are like most people, you have begun the process of putting away the summer stuff and getting out the winter wear. You probably were also saying to yourself, "Where did all of this stuff come from?"

I know at our house, we are constantly in awe at all the shoes that we accumulate. I'm always tripping over them when I come home. Yes, sometimes they are my own shoes but that is a story for another time.

Maybe your kids are outgrowing their shoes and they are still in good shape but you don't just want to throw them out. Great news, The Shelter would be happy to take them off your hands....or in this case your feet.

They are collecting gently worn, used and new shoes to raise money and need your help. Their goal is 2,500 pairs and it can be any kind of shoe. They are looking for sneakers, casual shoes, dress shoes, dance shoes, athletic shoes, boots, flip-flops, any shoe will do.

Do a shoe drive at work! I'm sure your co-workers have shoes they want to get rid of and they'd be happy to give them to you to donate.

Guys, here's a great way to get your wife to clean out that shoe closet, you'll be helping a great cause and you win by getting rid of all the extra shoes that will never be missed.

How about starting a neighborhood shoe drive? I've been living at my current residence for over 15 years and I still couldn't tell you who lives 3 house up. This would be a great way for me to finally introduce myself and help out the Shelter at the same time.

You have until December 7th but that time will fly by so don't delay. You drop off your shoes at The Shelter at 167 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton or contact Kim at (607)724-3709 ext. 107 or kbroderick@bchumanesoc.com.
