Binghamton’s Fairview UMC Doing Good Work
The Ugly Quilts group at Fairview United Methodist Church is doing some incredible things for the homeless community in the Southern Tier and we couldn't be prouder of them.
Every Monday, these amazing individuals come together to make sleeping bags out of donated fabric. Here's some exciting news, they've recently hit a milestone by making their 70th sleeping bag! Can we get a round of applause?
The group meets in the Bouton Room inside Fairview United Methodist Church at 254 Robinson Street in Binghamton every Monday afternoon from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., and you don't need to have any sewing skills to join them.
That's not all this incredible church community does. They do many other activities and initiatives that help our community in whatever ways they can. They lend a hand through their food pantry which they started back in April of 2013.
They provide much-needed food items to families in need, and they rely on the support of their community to keep this program running smoothly. The food pantry takes place on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month from 4 to 5:30 pm.
It also runs on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Your contributions make a world of difference, so if you can, please lend a helping hand!
Fairview United Methodist Church Diaper Bank
They also recognize the importance of diapers because they can be pretty expensive. They started the diaper bank in 2021 and donations are always welcome, You can come to the bank on the first Wednesday of each month from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm, along with the food pantry.
But wait, there's more! Throughout the entire year, this church community continues to support various ongoing ministries. They donate pajamas to the Children's Home, set up a Winter Clothes Line, collect school supplies for Calvin Coolidge school, and have something called the Blessing Box.
These folks are finding ways to make a positive impact on their community. If you're feeling inspired and want to get involved in any of these incredible projects, reach out to the church office at 607-724-6886. There's always room for more helping hands and hearts full of love.
