I'm not a big junk food eater and potatoes are pretty low on my list of foods that I like, but I am a sucker for one thing made from potatoes- French fries. French fries are my comfort food, my top pick over meatloaf and mac and cheese, which is why this news is particularly heartbreaking.

A 20-year study on potatoes has found that they (especially French fries) are super bad for you.

The study researchers say that a diet which includes four or more servings a week of baked, boiled, or mashed potatoes was actually associated with an increased risk of high blood pressure when compared with diets that consisted of less than one serving a month of spuds.

But wait, there's more and it gets worse.

The study also found that eating French fries is associated with an even higher risk of hypertension which, in case you didn't know, can lead to blood clots forming in the arteries leading to the brain, blocking blood flow, and potentially causing a stroke.

That's some scary stuff! But don't worry, there's a solution and it lies in potato chips.

The researchers discovered that eating potato chips isn't associated with any increased blood pressure risk, which makes no sense to me, but I'll take it. Until they come out with a study saying otherwise.
