According to WKBW, the CDC released a report last week that says the influenza B virus is more common among children. The flu could result in complications, even death, according to the CDC.

18 deaths are attributed this season to the influenza B strain, from September through December. The last time this strain of the virus was prominent was 1992-1993.

This year's vaccine isn't a perfect match for the strain B flu virus but the CDC advises getting the vaccine anyway because it does offer some protection from the dangerous virus.
