It was a big night for high school football in Broome County as the Patriots of Binghamton High School hosted the Vestal Golden Bears at Alumni Stadium. Both teams suffered a loss in their first matchup and were eager to get their first win of the season on September 13.

It was a defensive battle in the first half. Both teams were able to move the ball, but not far enough to get it within scoring distance, so it was a scoreless game going into halftime.

Coming out of the locker room, Binghamton was able to drive down the field and get some points on the board. Mose Hill Jr with the 19-yard rushing touchdown and Michael Amar-Ward converting the extra point put the Patriots on top 7-0 with four minutes remaining in the third quarter.

Moving to the fourth quarter, Binghamton caused a fumble that was recovered by Jayquan Smith at the Vestal 49 yard line. Cequan Johnson would take advantage as he would march down the field and cap it off with a 30-yard touchdown pass to Colbie YoungChris Balshuweit converted the extra point to make it a 14-0 lead for the Patriots.

A few minutes later Johnson would connect with Young again on another deep bomb. The 68-yard completion plus the made PAT from Ryan Bonsell made it a 21-0 lead for Binghamton with three minutes to go in the game.

Unfortunately for Vestal, they were unable to put any points on the board for the second straight game meaning it was a 21-0 victory for Binghamton. The Patriots even their record to 1-1 overall while the Golden Bears drop to 0-2.
