This is fantastic and we are so thankful that Austin Tanner from Fox 40 was on hand to see it...and more importantly, he caught it on video for all to see and enjoy. On Friday, November 5th, Waverly and Norwich hooked up in a Class-C semi-final playoff football game, and what resulted ended up with some national exposure for the Southern Tier.

Waverly's Jay Pipher goes deep and quarterback Joe Tomasso makes the pass. He gets his hands on the ball but the official on the play says that it's no good...or is it? The ball disappears behind Pipher but bounces up to his legs and into his hands.

Thanks to Tanner, we get to judge it for ourselves, and more importantly, the country can see the play as it made ESPN Sportcenter's #1 Play of the Day. Check it out for yourself.

The catch looks good to me but I'm glad that I wasn't the official on the play because initially, it does look like it hit the ground..it has to hit the ground right?  Pipher's catch was the #1 play of the day and beat out a pair of New York Knicks highlights that had monster dunks by Obi Toppin and Nerlens Noel.

The good news is that Waverly didn't need the touchdown as they defeat Norwich by a 35-8 score. The Wolverine advance to take on Chenango Forks in the Class C finals.

So how does Pipher's catch measure up to these memorable plays below? You be the judge.
