Emergency Services officials say at around 5 p.m. authorities got a call about a wall of the building on Mitchell Street crashing to the ground. Video from the scene that evening shows a large slab of brick and mortar wall sliding from the top floors of the building to the ground while witnesses looked on.

There were no injuries reported.

Officials say Mitchell Street between Silver and Merrill Streets is shut down while barricades block off the intersection of State and Mitchell Streets.

The building, which had been built in 1855, had some chunks of debris come lose a few weeks ago but the structure was believed to be safe and six residents were still living in the building.  The portion of the third and second floors that fell on Wednesday, however, were unoccupied.
