Norwich Teacher’s Backpack Project Is a Lifeline for Families Facing the Unthinkable
When life throws the unexpected at us, it can be hard to know where to turn. That’s exactly why Backpacks With Bre was born.
Backpacks With Bre is a heartfelt project led by a local teacher from Norwich who saw the struggles around her and decided to step up.
From Heartache to Help
After witnessing individuals in her community go through unimaginable situations, like losing a home in a fire or suddenly being displaced, Breanna Thall knew she had to do something. As a teacher, she saw firsthand how something as simple as a backpack could make a child light up. For little ones, especially, having something that’s “theirs” can bring a sense of security in an otherwise chaotic time.
More Than Just a Backpack
These backpacks aren’t just tossed-together care packages. Each one is filled with carefully chosen items based on the specific situation the recipient is facing. From warm blankets and teddy bears to school supplies, toiletries, and even small touches like mascara or a phone charger, every item is meant to bring a little bit of normal back to someone going through a tough time. The goal? Help them take a deep breath and feel ready to face the next step.

Want to Help? Here’s How
If this mission speaks to your heart, there are a couple of easy ways to get involved. On Saturday, May 31, Backpacks With Bre will be part of a craft show and Chinese auction at the South New Berlin Firehouse from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. This is a fun way to show your support while enjoying a day out.

What’s on the Wishlist?
If you're unable to make the event on Saturday, there is also an Amazon wishlist. Items range from comforting staples like stuffed animals, fuzzy socks, and cozy blankets to practical must-haves like deodorant, toothbrushes, feminine hygiene products, baby wipes, and journals.
