Following the collapse of a parking ramp at Wilson Hospital near the emergency room entrance, a state of emergency has been declared for the area near the hospital campus in Johnson City.

The two story parking ramp, located Baldwin Street, collapsed just before 3:30pm Thursday afternoon and Broome County Executive Debbie Preston and Johnson City Mayor Greg Deemie have declared a state of emergency for the areas surrounding the Baldwin Street ramp.

A news release states that the state of emergency will be in effect for five days, until Tuesday, July 21st. What this means for you is that you won’t be allowed to drive, bike or walk on the following roads until further notice:

  • Baldwin Street between Main Street and Corliss Avenue
  • Corliss Avenue, between Baldwin and Arch Streets
  • Arch Street between Main Street and Corliss Avenue
