Here we are in the middle of Winter and Spring seems so far away. So what say's Spring to you? For me, it's when the New York Maple Festival and the Pancake Eating Contest in Marathon begins.

The 48th annual festival is back on April 7th and 8th with the Pancake Eating Contest on Saturday morning, April 7th. This is where your help is needed and you can help the non-profit of your choice at the same time.

Pancake Eaters are Wanted:

Have you ever been told that you eat like you're on a timer? Well now you can, in fact it's encouraged. Here's your chance to eat as many pancakes as you can and you won't be judged. The more you eat, the more money you'll raise for your non-profit group.

This is what you need to do. Send a post card or letter to Pancake Eating Contest, PO Box 291, Marathon, NY 13803. Give the name and address of your not-for-profit group and the contact person, also include the name, address and telephone number of the pancake eater.

After it's been accepted, you and the "not-for-profit" group can start getting pledges for every pancake eaten or get a lump sum. You get to eat and your organization gets the money, it's a win-win. Here's an added bonus, the CNY Maple Festival will kick in some cash too.

The contest begins at 9 am in the Marathon High School Auditorium. I participated in this event a few years back, had a great time and helped raise money for NorthPointe's Wishing Well.

It's fun and a great way to welcome spring in a maplely sweet way. It's the 48th Annual Central New York Maple Festival Weekend, April 7th and 8th in Marathon. See all the events here.
