A Port Crane man has been charged with vehicular manslaughter following a hit-and-run crash which resulted in the death of a 16-year-old Tioga County girl.

Authorities say Constance Mazzarese of Paige Street, Owego, died after the bicycle she was riding was hit by a sport utility vehicle on Route 369 in the town of Fenton.

The collision happened as Mazzarese was riding with another teenager shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday.

Investigators say 44-year-old Michael Gincerowski Jr. of Rogers Road, Port Crane, was found by police at a nearby home a short time later.

Gincerowski has been charged with first-degree vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. He also faces felony counts of driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed operation.

According to the Broome County Sheriff's Office, Gincerowski was driving a 2005 Ford Explorer SUV which struck Mazzarese.

The vehicle was found disabled by a state trooper about one mile from where the crash occurred.

Investigators say a blood seizure order was obtained after the collision. Toxicology results were pending.

Gincerowski was arraigned Sunday morning and ordered held at Broome County Jail.

A section of Route 369 was closed for nearly five hours following the crash.
