Dive Teams Investigate Submerged Vehicle in Susquehanna Co.
Pennsylvania State Police say alcohol can be linked to a incident in which a vehicle was found submerged into a body of water in Susquehanna County and resulted in the deployment of water rescue and dive teams.
Authorities say Troopers got a report of a vehicle in Lakeside Pond off Dimick to Nicholson Road in Hop Bottom shortly after 6 a.m. on September 25. Emergency crews from Factoryville Fire and Ambulance, Tunkhannock Dive and Rescue, Lackawanna Water Rescue, Scott Township Dive and Rescue as well as other fire and police units responded to the scene. Divers found the submerged vehicle unoccupied.
While rescuers were investigating the vehicle in the water, Troopers found the suspected driver, still wet and displaying injuries consistent with a car crash.
Authorities say 28-year-old Codi Bushnell of Meshoppen, Pennsylvania showed indications of impairment and was arrested under suspicion of drunk driving.
The investigation is continuing.
