Outdoor Learning Adventure begins in County Parks

According to a press release from Cornell Cooperative Extension has partnered with Broome County to help support parents as the new school year begins, with a series of fun and hands on classes at Broome County Parks.

The free interactive classes are part of the “Weeks Without Walls: An Outdoor Learning Adventure” program help at three Broome county parks, Greenwood, Dorchester and Otsiningo starting today.

Educators from CCE Broome Ag in the classroom, RootED, and 4-H Education Center, will provide project ideas and kits to assist parents at home, to help supplement their children’s remote virtual and hybrid programs.

Classroom educators will help children and parents learn about chickens, goats, and lambs, as well as grapes, cranberries, pumpkins and apples, and families will be able to take home kits to work on.

Also educators at the 4-H Education Center at Finch Hollow will go on guided nature walks, and explore local wildlife at each of the county parks.

The “Weeks Without Walls: An Outdoor Learning Adventure��� programs will continue through early November.

Social distancing and safety practices will be in place for all classes, and masks are required to be worn by all attendees.
