The New York Beef Council just released its Top 10 finalists for this year’s Best NY Burger Competition, and Shelly’s Deli earned a spot on that list. That means out of all the burger joints across the entire state, from big cities to small towns, Endicott is right there in the mix. And if you’ve had one of their burgers, this probably doesn’t surprise you.

• Ben’s Fresh (Port Jervis)
• Brewer Union Cafe (Brewerton)
• Columbus Public House (Sherburne)
• Illusive (Rensselaer)
• Matteson Hotel (Ilion)
• Pound Town Burger Bar (Syracuse)
• Savoy Taproom (Albany)
• Shelly’s Deli (Broome County)
• Tap It Bar & Grill (Rochester)

It’s a stacked lineup from all corners of New York, which makes it even more exciting to see Endicott holding its own.

What Makes This Competition a Big Deal

Restaurants had to be nominated and voted on by the public, and every burger in the running has to be made with 100% beef. Now that the Top 10 is locked in, anonymous judges will travel across the state, tasting each burger and scoring them on things like:

• Flavor
• Presentation
• Cook (yes, that perfect doneness matters)

So yeah… this is serious business.

What Happens Next for Shelly’s Deli

The next step is simple, but not easy. Judges will visit Shelly’s Deli, try the burger, and stack it up against the best in the state. The winner will be announced on May 13 at the New York State Capitol in Albany during the annual May Beef Month celebration.
