
If You’re Flying Out of Upstate New York, Please Don’t Be This Person
Every once in a while, life doesn’t give you time to plan; it just tells you it’s time to go.
That’s exactly what happened to me. I booked a last-minute flight to Palm Springs last Friday for the weekend to check on my grandma, who spends her winters there and hasn’t been doing so well, health-wise.
There wasn’t a whole lot of overthinking involved. I just needed to get to her as fast as possible. It wasn’t until I landed that everything clicked into place. It was Coachella weekend. Suddenly, the sky-high airfare and the “are you kidding me?” rental car prices made perfect sense.

The trip itself started off as easy as I could have hoped for. No delays, no long lines, nothing eventful. That is… until my connecting flight to Salt Lake City.
We were in the air, everyone was settled in, and my seatmate casually pulled out a tuna fish sandwich that could have cleared a room. No warning.
And right then, sitting there trying to pretend I didn’t notice, it hit me… we all get a little too relaxed on planes sometimes.
