The 5th annual Binghamton Pond Festival continues this weekend and they are doing something new this year. It's a 3 vs 3 adult tournament (age 21+) at Chenango Valley State Park, 153 State Park Road in Chenango Forks.

It begins Friday, January 17th at 4 p.m. and goes until Sunday, January 19th at 3 p.m. This new tournament is the same format as the 4 vs 4 tournament that they've been doing and this means more open ice for the players.

This weekend also benefits the Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier (MHAST) Do It For Daron (DIFD) Power to the Purple youth mental health initiative. They help to raise youth mental health awareness and suicide prevention in our community.

There are 30 teams participating, so you are bound to know somebody. The ice is mechanically refrigerated and with the colder temperatures, the ice will be fast. Go here to see the entire schedule including live music by Tim Ruffo.

As they say, ice hockey is meant to be played outdoors and the friends you make through hockey are the best ones. Stop by this weekend at Chenango Valley State Park and find out for yourself.

The Binghamton Pond Festival has donated over $26,000 to the various local groups and with your help, they'll take it even higher.
