Norwich Couple Accused of ‘Stealing’ Motel Room

Two Norwich residents are accused of stealing a night at a local motel while having drugs in their possession.

Bob Joseph/WNBF News [file][/caption]Chenango County Sheriff's Officials say they caught 32-year-old Scott Russell and 22-year-old Brooklyn Stout used a stolen motel key to get into a room and stay the night without paying.

During a pat-down, Deputies say they found Stout in possession of marijuana while Russell was found with a controlled substance.

Both are charged with criminal trespass, theft of services, criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana.

They were ordered to appear in Town of Norwich Court at a later date.
